Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 9

As many of you already know, my true love is television; however, my second love is drag queens! I do not know what it is, whether it be their glamorous outfits or their fabulous and cheeky personality, but there is something about drag queens that I absolutely adore. And so, one of my favorite reality competition shows is RuPaul’s Drag Race. Most know RuPaul for being the first drag supermodel, however, I first came to contact with this queen when I first watched Drag Race season 3 and I have been hooked ever since.

The fierce drag queens compete to win $100,000 and the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar”. Season nine premiered this past Friday, March 24, 2017 on VH1, and the competition is a fierce as it’s queens. The show premiered with music legend, fashion icon and LGBT advocate, Lady Gaga as guest host, along with Ru’s longtime friend Michelle Visage, Ross Matthews and Carson Kressley. Although it was only the first episode, the drama has already started with the episode ending with a past queen coming back to fight for the title. Although we have to wait and see who will be the surprise queen, I do have my suspicions of who it might be: season seven queen Jasmine Masters or season four queen LaShauwn Beyond, also known for coining the phrase “This is not RuPaul’s best friend race!”

Who do you think is the surprise queen to join the competition? Also comment on who you think will be the top queens to take the crown!

Big Little Lies

Although I know I mainly write about Netflix series, I have to admit I do watch more than just shows on Netflix. A new show I have just started is the HBO drama Big Little Lies. The show is based off the same-title best-selling novel by Liane Moriarty and stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley as mothers of first graders at the local, high society school. The show starts with the police investigating a murder during a school function, the show then flashbacks to their kid’s first day of school, in which Woodley’s son, played by Iain Armitage, strangles another child. The show then flashes forward to the different parents being interrogated. We find through the interrogation more about some of the “helicopter parents” and the relationships between the parents leading up to the day of the murder. Though the show can be chaotic at times due to the marital relationship of both Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgard’s characters, the show is none-the-less very interesting. This program able to shed a light on today’s parenting styles, while simultaneously taking a look at how much gossip can go around a small school.

If your interested in watching the show it airs on Sundays on HBO at 9:00 pm (Eastern). I, personally, enjoy the show, but would love to know what if you’ve watched the show and loved it or hated it. Make sure to leave your comments!

Black Mirror

Netflix has a variety of TV shows to offer. One genre I rarely seek is foreign shows and film. The most recent foreign TV show I binged – binge may be considered an understatement since I finished the entire series in two days –  was the anthology series, Black Mirror; this Brit show has to be in my top ten favorite TV shows. The thriller/drama has a futuristic, Twilight Zone feel, in which every episode tells a different story that, for lack of a better phrase, will truly blow your mind, and sheds a light on the effect technology has on our society. By the end of each episode, your brain will be going a million miles a minute revising, not only the episode, but as well your own life. Although the show tends to be slow, and depending on where the episode takes place, hard to understand, the show is truly worth the watch. So tell me my readers, do you plan on watching this thriller? Also if you have any foreign TV shows or films that you think are worth the watch make sure to comment me the titles and I can watch it and maybe even write a post on it!

Bill Nye the Science Guy is Back!

TV show revivals have become extremely popular lately on Netflix, from Fuller House, Arrested Development and to the most recent The Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. However, Netflix’s latest revival is a dream come true for 90’s kids everywhere: Bill Nye Saves the World. On April 21, 2017, Bill Nye “the Science Guy”, the most popular scientist since Albert Einstein, will premiere his new show, in which he will be conducting new experiments and shining a light on the different aspects of the world through a scientific point of view. As a child, I would watch episodes continuously with my mom and sisters since it was enjoyable for all of us. I will definitely be watching this show with my lab coat and bow tie awaiting to conduct new experiments, but will you? Tell me if you’re planning to watch this nostalgic revival or if you have any other revivals you plan to be watching!

What’s New on Netflix

Netflix is always premiering new and creative shows for audiences ranging from toddlers to adults. A new kids TV show that recently premiered on Netflix is Julie’s Greenroom. The show stars the Brit legend, Julie Andrews, and some child puppets learning the ins and outs of theater and production. The show guest stars some of her favorite musically talented BFFs, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Tituss Burgess, master violinist Joshua Bell, and the Broadway legend Idina Mendzel. Another Netflix Original that recently premiered is the hilarious Grace and Frankie. The show recently debuted its third season this past week. If you haven’t started watching this show, I strongly suggest you do. The show stars seasoned actors Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in which the two women find their respected husbands are not only gay, but in love with each other. The show is critically acclaimed and Tomlin even received an Emmy nomination for her role as Frankie. Below I have attached links to the trailers to both shows. Let me know if you plan to watch any of these shows or if you have already seen them!
